The nominations are now open for 'Channel of the Year 2013' over at http://www.virginmedia.com/tvradio/awards/channel-of-the-year.php.
Twelve channels are vying for the top spot though it doesn't say when the closing date is for voting, which is a simple button press.
At the moment BBC One is winning with an impressive 20.78%, a deserved score. However, it's the second placed channel - Watch - currently at 16%, which deserves a shot at the award.
Why? Though I'm big supported of the BBC as the most satisfying broadcaster, Watch has proven to be a channel that punches well above its weight with its exclusives and special programmes. Where ITV failed to see the full potential in Primeval and fully secure it's fourth and fifth series, Watch stepped in to part-finance it and meant they could be made and, frankly, did a far better job at marketing the series on-air and on the Internet than the other, far bigger broadcaster, ever did, and they should be a wake up call to the half-heartedness of some of the bigger television stations. Plus, they've recently supported the Canadian spin-off and brought that to these shores.
They do a wide range of shows both exclusive, imports and repeats, seen at http://uktv.co.uk/watch/homepage/sid/6817 and have got my vote for channel of the year.
