From Electric Six on Facebook:
So, Crazies...here's the deal with the live DVD. It's going to be called "Absolute Treasure." It will be funded via a Kickstarter campaign, which we are currently finalizing and which is anticipated to be live around the beginning of our upcoming tour (hoping for February 15). The show to be filmed will be held in Detroit on September 7, 2013 at a venue we'll announce when the campaign goes live (but you can probably guess which one, as it's hardly an unfamiliar room for E6 to play). It's going to be a $10 ticket, ridiculously cheap and just like what we did in Minneapolis for the recording of "Absolute Pleasure." We want the room to be packed and jacked. We're doing it in Detroit because, to paraphrase Dick Valentine from a song he wrote a long time ago, we ARE Detroit.
This is going to be the real deal. It's a multi camera shoot, done in HD (so there will be standard def AND Blu Ray versions available for backers). We've got the same guys doing the audio who did our live album last year, so it's going to look AND sound spectacular. This will NOT be a "Fire" centric set...it'll look much more like conventional sets we've done over the years, but don't worry...all the hits shall be played. Who knows what crazy antics will be part of this show? Only time will tell, but this is guaranteed to be THE Electric Six show to see in 2013...and now you'll be able to see it even if you can't make it to Detroit.
We're also offering a bonus disc which will include what's guaranteed to be the most in depth interview ever done of the band, as well as behind the scenes footage and other assorted extreys. The WAY in which we're planning to execute the material on this disc (particularly the interview) should be mandatory viewing just based on the format alone, but no details for you beyond that just yet, Crazy. Just know that it should be really funny, like a clown is funny.
In addition to the gig and bonus discs, the Kickstarter campaign is going to have a wild selection of packages available for backers. We're offering some truly amazing stuff for deep E6 crazies. Did you ever want to own the briefcase from the "Switzerland" cover? How about a dinosaur head from the "Formula 409" video? A lanyard from the South Park 10th Anniversary show that even Ke$ha tried and failed to get her hands on? We've got all that kind of thing and tons more. You can have Electric Six record a cover of your choice, or even write a song about a subject you choose. You can actually briefly be IN the DVD itself as long as you're physically in Detroit for the show. We've got tons of stuff beyond these, but you get the flavor. We're as excited as we can be about this project and we want you, the crazies, to be excited too. In order to execute a project of this quality, a totally pro deal both visually and sonically, it costs money, so this won't be cheap to produce, but we have faith in all of you that we won't have any problem blowing right through our goal.
We'll of course let you know as soon as the campaign goes live, but prepare now, Crazies...the moment is almost upon us.
Needless to say I'm excited... will keep you posted!
